Geoscience Ireland (GI) is a network of 33 companies, delivering integrated expertise in water, minerals, environmental and infrastructure development to clients in over 50 countries.
GI is supported by the Geological Survey of Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. The GI network provides design, consultancy and contracting services to multilateral agencies, governments and the private sector.
Geoscience Ireland is headed by Sean Finlay, Director – Business Development. Sean has 40 years’ experience in Project Management, leading multidisciplinary teams implementing mining, waste management and infrastructural projects. He has worked on mining and exploration projects in Ireland, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, Pakistan and the Former Soviet Union.
His experience includes Executive and Non-Executive Directorships of a number of public companies including Celtic Resources Holdings Plc., Glencar Mining Plc and Aurum Mining Plc. He also served as Chief Exploration Geologist at Tara Mines Ltd., Navan, Co. Meath. Prior to taking up his role with Geoscience Ireland, he was a Director of TOBIN Consulting Engineers.
Sean has specific expertise in engineering and environmental sectors including feasibility studies, minerals exploration and mining, quarrying, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering and general management.
Sean is a Professional Geologist and a Chartered Engineer and has served as President of the Irish Mining and Quarrying Society and as Council member of Engineers Ireland.
