- GI member elected President of ACEI
- GI member short listed for Large Engineering Project Award
At the Annual Awards Dinner of the ACEI in Dublin on 8 April, it was announced that Richard Crowe, Managing Director of Nicholas O’Dwyer Consulting Engineers, had been elected as President of ACEI for 2016. Rick serves on the Steering Committee of GI. Nicolas O’Dwyer Consulting Engineers have worked for most of the International Finance Agencies delivering infrastructure projects in Africa, the Middle East and Turkey.
Richard, a Chartered Engineer, is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland, a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Association of Consulting Engineers. A graduate of University College Dublin he joined Nicholas O’Dwyer in 1988 and was appointed managing director in 1998. His experience encompasses design of all types of civil engineering structures, including water retaining facilities, bridges, port structures and transmission towers; the inspection, assessment and strengthening of bridges; the design and supervision of buildings in the commercial, industrial, residential and education sectors and foundation engineering. He has wide ranging experience of infrastructure in the transportation, water and power sectors and has led the development of Nicholas O’Dwyer’s role in the provision of infrastructure using Design Build Operate projects and Public Private Partnerships, as both the employer’s representative and contractor’s designer.
GI member JB Barry and Partners was short listed for the best Large Engineering Project in Ireland for the Mater Hospital Development in Dublin. JB Barry has delivered infrastructure projects in Africa, the Balkans and Turkey.
