Geoscience Ireland (GI), a business cluster of companies active in geology, hydrogeology, geotechnical and environmental engineering and water services, is pleased to announce a new member, Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions (GDG).
Based in Dublin with an office in London, GDG is a specialist geotechnical engineering consultancy, providing innovative geotechnical solutions to a broad range of engineering problems. GDG provides engineering services to the international market, including concept design, detailed design, in-situ monitoring and geotechnical advice.
GDG is involved in a diverse range of international projects ranging from major civil infrastructure projects, harbours/marinas, offshore oil/gas fields, onshore and offshore windfarms, and commercial structures. See recent Dogger Bank Metmast Installations Case Study.
An example of an international collaboration by GDG is the EU – funded INFRARISK project which commenced in late 2013. The scope of work focuses on developing reliable stress tests for European critical infrastructure using integrated modelling tools for decision-support. INFRARISK will develop advanced decision-making approaches and lead to better protection of existing infrastructure which may be exposed to or threatened by natural hazards. See www.gdgeo.com for further details and www.geoscience.ie for selected case histories.
Commenting on GDG’s membership, GI’s Chairman Koen Verbruggen said;
“I am delighted to welcome GDG which extends the excellence offered by GI in geotechnical engineering, especially in offshore structures and risk assessment. I am particularly pleased to see the strong links GDG have with latest Irish research in this field”.
GI is supported by the Geological Survey of Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and by members subscriptions; its focus is to assist members to win business in overseas markets.
