Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Irish Branch; Seminar on Irish Offshore Exploration & Production
The first Seminar of SPE in Ireland took place in Dublin on 28th January and was addressed by Minister for Natural Resources, Joe McHugh TD.
Welcoming the formation of the Irish branch of SPE, Minister McHugh noted that Ireland’s offshore, while under-explored, remains highly prospective, despite recent oil price declines.
SPE International President Helge Haldorsen noted that SPE has over 124,000 members in 135 countries. SPE’s mission is to enable the global oil and gas E&P industry to share technical knowledge needed to meet the world’s energy needs in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Other speakers included Tony O Reilly, CEO of Providence Resources plc who outlined Providence’s ambitious drilling programme for 2015-2016. Paul Markwell of IHS presented on cost implications of recent oil price trends.
