Enterprise Ireland & NOF Energy hosted a 2-day Seminar and Exchange on oil and gas supply chain opportunities in the UK and Nordics offshore energy.
The UK and Norway have been significant oil and gas producers for 50 years and today their combined output is c. 6 million barrels per day. The sector provides extensive supply chain opportunities for services and products.
The recent Seminar at Enterprise Ireland HQ in Dublin heard keynote presentations from PwC, the UK Oil & Gas Authority, NOF Energy, Achillies/FPal, the Oil & Gas Innovation Centre and Swedeocean. Over a dozen UK and Nordic companies outlined their specialities, primarily in in offshore engineering, including renewable energy (wind and tidal) and decommissioning issues.
Irish companies which presented were Providence Resources plc, Abcon, Chemstore, PM Group and Geoscience Ireland.
Commenting on the event, Sean Finlay of Geoscience Ireland said
“The NOF Energy – Enterprise Ireland event provided a great opportunity for Irish service providers to the offshore energy sector to connect and network with counterparts in the UK, Norway and Sweden. Because of low oil prices, offshore operators are continually striving to reduce costs and to seek innovative services and products. Ireland has a range of agile and experienced service providers who are competitive in this sector and will continue to build business.
Geoscience Ireland companies provide specialist geotechnical and environmental design and advisory services to the energy sector and are expanding their offering to Nordic countries.”
