    Business Development Manager joins Geoscience Ireland

    Sean Finlay took up the position of Director – Business Development for Geoscience Ireland (GI) earlier this month. His tasks will include adding new partners to the consortium of companies which comprise GI; access and evaluation of tender opportunities and marketing of the GI brand. Based in the Geological Survey of Ireland offices in Dublin, Sean commented

    Geoscience Ireland (GI) provides a unique opportunity to develop business for Irish-based geologists, geotechnical engineers and hydrogeologists in mining, exploration, water and infrastructure development and in environmental services in international markets. GI will build on the outstanding success of Irish mining and oil and gas companies, focussing initially on Africa and will be supported by Enterprise Ireland in this venture.

    IBEC and Irish Engineering Enterprises Federation (IEEF) Winning Business in Africa

    IBEC’s Irish Engineering Enterprises Federation (IEEF) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, launched a major new report, Winning Business in Africa – Building a Cluster for Infrastructure Projects, which identifies over 100 projects worth up to €12 billion in African countries for which Irish companies can bid over the next five years. Irish exports of goods and services to Africa were valued at over €2.7 billion in 2011, with the latest detailed CSO country figures on trade indicating growth of 7% in exports of goods during the first five months of 2012.
