Pictured at the recent Market Study Visit to Perth WA organised by Enterprise Ireland are right; Noel White, Ireland’s Ambassador to Australia and Sean Finlay, Director, Geoscience Ireland.
Over 20 companies took part in the visit which was focussed on construction and mining. Western Australia with 10% of Australia’s population accounts for over 40% of exports, mainly in natural resources with iron ore and LNG being the largest contributors.
Despite some recent softening in the prices for minerals, the region is planning major developments in mining and offshore natural gas and related infrastructure.
In addition to the 16 Geoscience Ireland members represented, geosynthetic lining companies FLI and Lining Technologies took part, as did AGEC, a geotechnical design consultancy based in Carlow which opened an office in Perth last year. AGEC will shortly join Geoscience Ireland.
