Minister Donohoe Launches Irish Business Network Scotland; Geoscience Ireland members Rubicon Heritage and GDGeo among founding members.
Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Pascal Donohoe TD, spoke to Irish and Scottish enterprises and agencies at the launch of the Irish Business Network Scotland (IBNS) on Wednesday, 8th June in Edinburgh.
The Minister described the close working relations between both countries and commented:
“The establishment of the Irish Business Network is further evidence of the already close co-operation that exists between Ireland and Scotland at so many levels.
“The network will provide an opportunity to bring together businesses from the two countries for their mutual benefit. The Irish Government is especially keen to foster such links.”
Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Europe and External Affairs welcomed the network and noted the value of the economic relationship whereby Scotland exports over £1 billion to Ireland while Irish businesses in Scotland turnover more than £2.5bn, employing nearly 6,000 people.
MSP Hyslop commented:
“The Scottish Government is pleased to welcome the development of the Irish Business Network Scotland to provide a way for businesses wanting to expand to tap into companies with experience already located in Scotland.”
Geoscience Ireland Member Companies Rubicon Heritage (Colm Moloney, IBNS Chairman) and GDGeo (Gerry O’Sullivan) are among the IBNS Committee Members.
