Nicholas O’Dwyer won the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) Overseas Project of the Year award after being nominated together with a fellow GI member JB Barry and Partners. The award ceremony was held on the 28th of March at 2014 at the ACEI Annual Awards Dinner in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin.
Nicholas O’Dwyer was nominated for the Zarqa Water Restructuring and Rehabilitation Project, in Zarqa City in Jordan. Services provided by Nicholas O’Dwyer included surveys, mapping and data collection, pilot leakage studies, hydraulic modelling of the water network. They also provided network improvements & rehabilitation measures, economic and social analysis, environmental assessment, preliminary designs & feasibility study and preparation of tender documents.
The funding for the this project is part of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) CC’s $275 million grant to the Government of Jordan to help reduce poverty through economic growth by implementing development projects in Zarqa Governorate.
JB Barry was nominated for the Lüleburgaz Wastewater Management Project. Lüleburgaz is a town and district of Kirklareli Province in the Marmara region of Turkey, 163 km from Istanbul airport. JB Barry provided technical assistance to set up a Project Implementation Unit (or PIU) and a Water Utility Department. In addition they also asked to provide Design and Construction Supervision Services for a new Wastewater Treatment Plant.
