This project involved the proposed installation of a solar array and associated infrastructural works over an area of 8.5 hectares in south Wales.
Rubicon Heritage Services were initially engaged to carry out an archaeological assessment of the site which identified the potential for buried remains to be present. As a result of these findings a geophysical survey was undertaken across the available area to assess if any features of significance were indeed located within the site limits. The purpose of such a remote-sensing survey is to identify potential archaeological risk in advance of groundworks.
Project Objectives/Outcomes
This proposed solar array was a privately funded commercial development which was set to provide an alternative renewable energy source which could be sold on to the National Grid.
Our Role
Rubicon Heritage Services provided the initial archaeological advice for the scheme and subsequently supplied the resources, equipment and professional expertise to successfully complete this project.
