Project Objectives

Detailed risk assessment of a disused tailings pond was undertaken for a range of heavy metals usings USEPA protocols. The assessment was undertaken to quantify the risk to the nearby human population due to wind-blown heavy metals originating from the tailings pond.

Our Role

Geoscience Ireland undertook detailed air dispersion modelling (using the USEPA approved CALPUFF model followed by a Source-Pathway-Receptor Model).
