Project Objectives/ Outcomes
|
Compass Informatics is excited to be involved in the ESA Green Transition Information Factory (GTIF) project, a groundbreaking initiative led by University College London (UCL) in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), EarthDaily Analytics, and Surrey AI Imaging Ltd (SAIIL).
ESA GTIF project are aimed to support the transformation of economy and society towards a sustainable and carbon neutral future. The project is exploring the use of satellite data to monitor and inform 5 key themes: 1. Renewable energy & optimizing the siting of solar 2. Air quality in cities 3. Food systems & drought monitoring 4. Fugitive methane emissions and 5. Urban heat islands The main project deliverable will be near real time monitoring services of specified urban locations across the UK, Ireland and France for all five themes. These results generated by these monitoring services can be incorporated into business decision support systems. |
Our Role
|
Our primary role is to understand how the near realtime monitoring of the five themes can be used to the advantage of government and industry in supporting the transformation of economy and society towards a sustainable and carbon neutral future.
We are keen to engage with all stakeholders who have an interest in these themes. Our technical role is focused upon the delivery of Theme 5 – – Development of near real time monitoring of cities to detect accumulation of Urban Heat Islands. – Analysis of temporal change for urban heat island.
