Project Objectives

The objective of the geophysical survey was to map the bedrock profile under loose rock and boulders (scree) in order to optimize tunnel design and construction.

Our Role

APEX Geoservices Limited carried out a geophysical survey using seismic methods to provide information on the depth to bedrock and the thickness and density of the steep scree deposits at the base of a cliff. The project included the assessment of three alternative tunnel portals. The remote northern location meant that the survey was carried out in 24-hour daylight.
