The objectives of the geophysical survey was to establish any likely mechanism for the slide on the North Coast Highway and to investigate possible alternative locations for the reinstated road.
APEX Geoservices Limited carried out a geophysical survey using resistivity and seismic methods to provide information on the depth to bedrock and the type, thickness and stiffness of the superficial deposits in the area around the landslide. The project also included the assessment of three alternative routes.
