Design, supply and Install of Engineered Lining System for the mines tailings facility no 4. The design element comprised of suitable slope lengths and anchor trench sizes for the geosynthetics materials to suit the topography of the site. The supply and installation element consisted of a 75,000sqm multi-layered geosynthetic system which included GCL, HDPE and protection geotextile layers. FLI provided specialist labour, supervision, administration, management and specialist welding equipment to install and test the geosynthetic materials.  On completion FLI provided handover documentation which included as-built geomembrane panel layout drawings and a quality assurance report.

Project Objectives/ Outcomes

The main challenges on the project which were successfully managed:

• Installation through winter months to meet a tight programme
• Sequencing of lining works with civils works in a challenging terrain
• Installing materials safely on steep slopes
