A consortium of Irish, Turkish and Italian companies (AWN, Ecodenge and Dappolonia) are providing technical training to the Turkish Ministry in relation to the Seveso II Directive. Turkey is in the process of commencing implementation of this Directive for many of their industries. Part of this exercise involves on site training of Ministry staff in Seveso assessments at an existing refinery in Turkey. The study provides an understanding of both Italian and Irish approaches to the implementation of the Seveso Directive.
AWN along with its Turkish and Italian partners Ecodenge and Dappolonia is providing expertise in Seveso and environmental risk assessment. As a teaching exercise for the Turkish Ministry staff, AWN experts are reviewing the tank farm area of a refinery in Kirikale, Ankara Turkey as a case study for implementing a Seveso study. Site assessments and modelling is being undertaken along with on site training for Ministry and refinery staff.
