Project Objectives
Crossrail will provide a high frequency, high capacity urban metro service to 37 stations linking east and west London. A new Station will be in deep tunnels beneath existing London Overground Lines. Two new shafts will be used to provide ventilation and emergency access to the platforms.
Our Role
BLP provided design assistance for the temporary foundations for the batching plant. Raft slabs were designed for a range of different pile stiffnesses to allow for ground movements which will occur during construction.
BLP also carried out a detailed design of the muck shed foundations and up-stand wall. An independent ground bearing slab and pile foundations will be used. The foundations were analysed for the initial conditions (i.e. no settlement) and then for settlement due to shaft and tunnel excavation.
