The French Geoscience cluster, Pole Avenia, held its Annual B2B Event & Conference in Pau last week. Over 200 delegates attended including delegations from Iran, Ireland and the USA.

Iran was the focus of the presentations with speakers from French major TOTAL, Iranian developer Pasagard Energy and Business France outlining opportunities and challenges in the Iranian market which has some of the world’s largest oil reserves.

GI representatives, attending their second B2B Event with Pole Avenia, held over 30 meetings with French and Iranian counterparts.

Dr La Coste of the Pau Mayor’s Office extended a warm welcome to delegates, noting Pau’s role as one of Europe’s leading centres for hydrocarbon research and carbon storage. The GI team also visited the EFF (Ecole Fracaise de Forage) drilling school which delivers courses to over 500 students per annum.
