GI Welcomes Conor Spollen to its Panel of Experts
Geoscience Ireland (GI) is pleased to announce that Conor Spollen has joined its Panel of Independent Experts.
Conor has 10 years experience of working on Vale’s nickel, copper, cobalt and PGM projects in Canada with a variety of corporate, project and operation roles.
Most recently, as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Vale, Conor assisted in the creation of a new area in Vale’s global Base Metals business (Canada, UK, China, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, New Caledonia) to provide oversight for development from exploration to project execution, risk management, health, safety and environment, geology and mine planning, technology and innovation. Prior to his role as CTO, he was the groups Chief Operating Officer (Canada and UK) and was responsible for all SHE, production, capital projects and technical services for the Canadian, UK, Zambian and Asian refineries for nickel, copper and PGM production.
He has also held various roles in strategy, sustainability and project development for Vale, and had a number of roles with Anglo America on the Lisheen Mine and in Chile.
A graduate of the Camborne of School of Mines, Conor is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng), holds an MBA from Chifley School of Business and has completed further modules at MIT, Boston.
