Net Job Creation in 2023 for Geoscience Ireland (GI) Members
Geoscience Ireland (GI), the business cluster helping to win business in international markets, reports firm progress for 2023. Members saw continued strong growth in the delivery of design and advisory services for Renewable Energy, Infrastructure and Water Services. This was offset by trends in the Minerals sector with weaker demand for some products and disruption to the supply chain for activities in Ireland, resulting from the suspension of operations at Boliden Tara Mines .
These opposing trends offset one another, resulting in turnover of €1,110 M in 2023, broadly similar to €1,112 M in 2022. Employment across the 32 members surveyed showed an increase of 77 net new jobs in 2023, an encouraging trend despite skill shortages and the challenges noted in the Minerals sector.
