Geoscience Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Shane Lavery P. Geo as ILO for the Geo-Drilling Apprenticeship delivered by the Institute of Technology, Carlow.

The 2 year Level 6 Apprenticeship commenced in early 2020 and is designed to provide a recognised qualification to the wide range of skilled technical personnel working in water well drilling, ground investigation for construction and infrastructure, mineral exploration, quarrying & mining, and directional drilling.

Shane is a Project Geologist with BRG Ltd. A graduate of NUIG, TCD and Griffith College, he is currently President of the Irish Association for Economic Geology. He will act as the contact between the drilling companies,  the apprentices, IT Carlow and the Steering Committee for the course.
