Geoscience Ireland (GI) is delighted to welcome Stephen Wheston to our Panel of Individual Experts. Stephen has over 20 years’ experience in sustainability management with a focus on industrial settings. Stephen was Environmental Manager at Lisheen Mine between 2003- 2017 and Stephen’s current role is Director at Tembusu Sustainability and Risk Management Consultancy.

Stephen holds a degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry with a master’s in Environmental Science. Stephen is an expert in all environmental and social aspects associated with the extractive industry including permitting  and has a strong understanding of Irish and European Environmental law.  Stephen has specific expertise in the development and implementation of Mine Closure plans and all associated elements such as financial assurance.
